Kaizer Chiefs Given $386,000 Price Tag for Tanzanian Star Feisal Salum

Kaizer Chiefs have reportedly been informed that they will need to fork out $386,000 (R7 million) if they wish to sign highly-rated Azam FC midfielder Feisal Salum, amid increasing interest in the player.
Chiefs Revive Interest in Salum
Salum has been on the radar of South African clubs for the past two transfer windows, with Mamelodi Sundowns previously expressing interest before seemingly stepping back. Kaizer Chiefs have since emerged as the frontrunners in the race to land the talented midfielder, but competition from North African clubs could complicate their pursuit.
Despite speculation that Salum refused to extend his contract in January 2024, Azam FC spokesperson Hasheem Ibwe recently clarified that the player still has 17 months left on his current deal. The Tanzanian club remains determined to retain his services but has now set a firm asking price for any potential suitors.
Negotiations Underway
According to AfricaFootUnited, Chiefs have re-opened talks with Azam over a possible transfer at the end of the 2024/25 season. While Amakhosi have not yet tabled an official bid, they have been made aware that a deal will only materialize if they meet the club’s $386,000 valuation.
Reports further suggest that Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi is pushing internally for the move, believing Salum could significantly bolster the squad’s midfield options.
Impressive Season for Salum
The 27-year-old has been in fine form this season, scoring four goals in 12 Tanzanian Premier League matches, as per Flashscore. His performances have only intensified interest in his signature, making it imperative for Chiefs to act swiftly if they want to secure the deal.
More Azam FC Stars on Chiefs’ Radar
Salum is not the only Azam FC player linked with a switch to Naturena. Zimbabwean striker Prince Dube has also reportedly attracted interest from Chiefs, with the club actively scouting reinforcements to strengthen their squad for next season.
With Chiefs eager to rebuild under Nabi, the coming months could be decisive in determining whether they can secure Salum’s services and potentially bring in additional reinforcements from Tanzania.
