Kaizer Chiefs League Fixtures Against Title Rivals Mamelodi Sundowns & Bidvest Wits Rescheduled
Absa Premier League log leaders Kaizer Chiefs will have to go back to the drawing board to re-stack their cards, if they are to claim their first trophy in 5 years as their fixtures against their major title rivals Mamelodi Sundowns and Bidvest Wits have been rescheduled from their original slated dates to later dates.
The revision of the fixtures is in large part prompted by the participation of Sundowns and Wits in the CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup competitions respectively.
Caf rescheduled continental club competition fixtures into overdrive in January and February to accommodate the CHAN tournament that was cancelled from January to April 2020 hence the effects of such are taking their toll on the local league with perhaps huge potential to play a role in determining the destiny of the league.
Chiefs were initially scheduled to host Bidvest Wits on the 21st January 2020 at 19:30 with the game now rescheduled to take place on Wednesday, 18th March, at 19:30 at the FNB Stadium.
Similarly, the fixture between Chiefs and Sundowns which was originally dated 1st February 2020, kicking off at 15:30 has now been moved to Wednesday, 15th April at the FNB Stadium, kicking off at 19:30.
Amakhosi who are currently perched on 34 points have been in fine form in the league and are currently on 8 consecutive wins with a 10-point lead over second placed Mamelodi Sundowns and SuperSport United who are both on 24-points.
The Absa Premiership will take a two week festive season hiatus allowing players to refresh and enjoy quality time with their loved ones before resuming on the first weekend of the new year where it will be epic for sides eyeing some form of silverware.
