Kaizer Chiefs Monitor Former Midfielder Lebohang Lesako Amid PSL Promotion/Relegation Playoffs

Kaizer Chiefs are reportedly keeping a close eye on one of their former players currently making waves in the PSL promotion/relegation playoffs, sources familiar with the club’s recruitment plans have revealed to the Siya crew.

According to an insider with deep knowledge of Chiefs’ scouting operations, Amakhosi have expressed interest in midfielder Lebohang Lesako, who is impressing for Casric Stars in the Motsepe Foundation Championship. Lesako, once on Chiefs’ books, has demonstrated significant growth this season, both on and off the pitch.

“Some Chiefs scouts and recruiters have been following his progress,” the source told Soccer Laduma. “They know him already as he is their former player and they are happy with how he has progressed from where he was before to where he is this season. He has shown growth both as a player and as a person, and that’s what makes them happy with his progress. They are believed to have enquired about him as they have shown interest.”

However, any potential move is likely to be delayed until after Casric Stars complete their battle to stay in the top tier. Another insider with connections to both clubs explained that Chiefs are respecting Casric Stars’ ongoing campaign in the playoffs.

“They are believed to be respecting Casric Stars and giving them space as they are still fighting in the playoffs. It’s apparently believed that after the playoffs, that’s when things can open up. But the interest is definitely there in Lebohang Lesako,” the source added.

At 25 years old, Lesako has been a key player for Casric Stars, appearing regularly in the Motsepe Foundation Championship league games. His journey has seen him move through clubs like Uthongathi and Moroka Swallows, gaining valuable experience after leaving Chiefs in the 2020/21 season.

Lesako’s potential return to Naturena would mark an intriguing chapter in his career. Initially unable to break into the Chiefs first team as a young player, his steady development at Casric Stars has caught the attention of his former club, suggesting they now believe he has the quality to make an impact in the PSL.

Attempts to get a comment from Kaizer Chiefs regarding Lesako’s situation were unsuccessful at the time of publication. Fans will be eager to see if the club moves to re-sign a player who has matured and grown into a promising midfield option.
