Kaizer Chiefs Move to Secure Bruce Bvuma with New Contract Extension

Kaizer Chiefs are reportedly moving swiftly to extend the contract of goalkeeper Bruce Bvuma, despite his current deal running until June 2026. According to sources close to the club, Amakhosi are preparing to offer the shot-stopper a new two-year contract that will secure his stay at the club until June 2028.

Commitment to Long-Term Stability

An insider has revealed that the club is confident in Bvuma’s abilities and wants to ensure his long-term future at Naturena.

“He is one of the goalkeepers that the team is currently sure they want to keep for a long time. That’s why they are in talks with him for a new two-year contract. It’s true they just renewed his contract last year, but they believe now is the right time to secure his long-term future and ensure he stays until June 2028,” the source told Soccer Laduma.

Chiefs Looking to Strengthen Goalkeeping Department

In addition to Bvuma’s extension, Chiefs are also looking to reinforce their goalkeeping ranks. A second source has indicated that the club is considering signing one or two new goalkeepers to bolster their squad ahead of the new season.

“They have already shown interest in Zambian Toaster Nsabata, Royal AM’s Xolani Ngcobo, and Chippa United’s Stanley Nwabali. However, to make room for new signings, Chiefs may need to either loan out or release some of their current goalkeepers. While they explore those options, securing Bruce (Bvuma) remains a priority, which is why they are offering him a new two-year deal,” the source added.

Bvuma’s Rise at Amakhosi

Now 29 years old, Bvuma was promoted to the senior Chiefs squad in 2018 from their development ranks. His best season came last year when he played in the majority of league matches despite not starting as the first-choice goalkeeper. This season, he initially found himself further down the pecking order but has taken full advantage of his opportunity following Fiacre Ntwari’s injury. He now finds himself ahead of Brandon Petersen and Bontle Molefe in the selection hierarchy.

Chiefs’ decision to extend Bvuma’s contract underlines their commitment to stability in the goalkeeping department while also planning for the future as they aim to strengthen the squad in key positions.
