Kaizer Chiefs Poised for European Pre-Season Camp Ahead of 2025/26 Campaign

Kaizer Chiefs are reportedly preparing to return to Europe for their pre-season preparations, with head coach Nasreddine Nabi and his technical team convinced that another training camp abroad will set the tone for a successful 2025/26 season. After holding their inaugural camp under Nabi in Turkey last year—during which they faced Tanzanian giants Young Africans SC in the Toyota Cup—Amakhosi insiders say plans for a European base are now “at an advanced stage and as good as done.”

Reliable sources close to the club revealed that Chiefs’ management and coaching staff have recommended a European location but are still finalizing details such as training facilities, accommodation and logistics. “We can’t yet disclose the country, but everything is being lined up,” one insider told Soccer Laduma. This follows criticism from some quarters last season, which suggested that the demanding Turkey trip contributed to inconsistent league form. However, the club remains undeterred, believing the elite environment will benefit player fitness and tactical cohesion.

In addition to the overseas camp, Chiefs are coordinating with sponsors to secure local pre-season tournaments upon their return. Possibilities include a repeat appearance in the Toyota Cup or alternative fixtures that will provide competitive match practice ahead of domestic and continental commitments. “Once the marketing department and sponsors finalize logistics, we will know which tournaments the team will enter,” a second source explained to the Siya crew.

Last season’s Turkey camp ended in a 4-0 defeat to Yanga SC, marking Nabi’s first competitive game in South Africa. Despite that setback, Chiefs went on to lift the Nedbank Cup and clinch qualification for the CAF Confederation Cup. With continental football on the horizon, the emphasis on top-class preparation has never been greater. A European pre-season camp offers high-performance training facilities and quality opposition, both crucial for meeting the rigorous demands of CAF competition.

Kaizer Chiefs did not provide an official comment by the time of publication, but the decision to return to Europe underlines the club’s commitment to supporting Nabi’s long-term vision. As Amakhosi look to build on last season’s cup success and secure more consistent league results, the combination of European conditioning, local tournaments and a clear tactical plan could prove the catalyst for a memorable 2025/26 campaign.
