Kaizer Chiefs Reap Rewards from Signing Thabiso Monyane

Kaizer Chiefs have received widespread praise for the signing of former Orlando Pirates defender Thabiso Monyane, who has yet to taste defeat in an Amakhosi shirt.
Monyane’s departure from Pirates in June, alongside Paseka Mako, surprised many, but his decision to join arch rivals Chiefs has so far proven fruitful. The speedy right-back has become an influential figure for the Soweto giants, earning recognition for his energy, tactical awareness, and consistent performances.
Since joining Chiefs, Monyane has featured in seven matches, contributing to six victories and one goalless draw against Mamelodi Sundowns. His presence on the field has coincided with the team’s unbeaten run in games he has played.
Former Bafana Bafana and Mamelodi Sundowns defender, Booth, praised Monyane on SuperSportTV’s Extra-Time. “Great piece of business for Chiefs with regards to Monyane at right-back. Once he got games under his belt, he was always going to provide those sorts of runs. He has a great engine and chooses his runs well. He is growing in that role, and long may it last for Chiefs,” Booth said. He also noted that Chiefs have adequate cover in Reeve Frosler, who can operate on both flanks.
Monyane is one of 12 new signings Chiefs have made this season. After 11 matches in the Betway Premiership, the Soweto giants sit third on the log, level on points with second-placed Pirates and three points behind leaders Mamelodi Sundowns.
The defender’s impact highlights Chiefs’ strategic recruitment ahead of a competitive season, and his performances suggest he could play a key role as the club aims for domestic success and a strong showing in continental competitions.
