Kaizer Chiefs Remain Active in Transfer Market as Foreign Player Spot Still Open

Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed they are still exploring options to strengthen their squad, with the possibility of adding another foreign player still available. Head coach Nasreddine Nabi has stated the club is keeping an eye on the market for players who can improve the squad beyond the current roster.

Nigerian striker Etiosa Ighodaro has been consistently linked to the club since the start of pre-season. Chiefs are looking to bolster the number nine position, and Ighodaro remains one of the main targets alongside Bosnian striker Dzenan Zajmovic. Zajmovic scored 11 goals and provided two assists for TS Galaxy last season. He is now a free agent and confirmed that no direct contact has been made by the Soweto giants.

Chiefs have been active in the transfer window, securing new signings including Flavio Silva, Siphesihle Ndlovu, Ethan Chislett, Nkanyiso Shinga, Thabiso Monyane, and Paseka Mako. They have also promoted Thulani Mabaso, Naledi Hlongwane, Kabelo Nkgwesa, and Manqoba Ozoemena from within the club.

Despite these additions, questions remain over whether further signings will be made before the domestic transfer window closes on September 22. The club has added Silva and promoted Hlongwane in the attacking department, but the number nine position remains a focus.

Assistant coach Kaze addressed the situation, stating: “Let me just say that if an opportunity presents itself that is worth it, we will take it. We still have a foreign spot, but we will not fill it up just because of filling it up. If an opportunity worth it arises, we will probably take it.”

Kaze also highlighted the importance of integrating new players beyond just their on-field contributions. “The new players are settling in well. The main important thing when you get new players, it’s not mainly about football on the pitch but mainly to know the teammates and get a good feeling about each other,” he said.

Kaizer Chiefs will continue monitoring the market closely, balancing squad needs with opportunities to bring in quality players who can make an immediate impact.
