Kaizer Chiefs Set to Welcome Back Key Players as Fitness Improves

Kaizer Chiefs co-coach Khalil Ben Youssef has provided a promising update on the fitness of three key players, signaling a boost for Amakhosi ahead of a crucial period in the Betway Premiership. Given Msimango, Rushwin Dortley and Paseka Mako are all nearing full fitness, with the club preparing to reintegrate them into the squad in the coming weeks.
Speaking after Chiefs’ 1-0 victory over Durban City at the Moses Mabhida Stadium, Ben Youssef highlighted the progress made by the long-term absentees. The co-coach confirmed that Rushwin Dortley could return to training in around two weeks. “About Dortley and Given, Dortley still, maybe in two weeks, will be back with us to start training. But Given is part of the team and he is ready,” said Ben Youssef. He added that Msimango is currently building his fitness and will be gradually reintroduced once fully prepared.
Paseka Mako has already returned to full training and even featured for the team recently. “Mako is part of the team, he is ready also. He was with us last week, he started last week. And you know, after one month out, now he is starting again,” Ben Youssef explained. The co-coach emphasized that Mako’s return adds depth to the squad at a time when Chiefs are looking to strengthen their challenge for the top positions in the league.
The Amakhosi technical team is closely monitoring the players’ progress alongside the club’s fitness coach, Majdi, to ensure they are fully prepared for competitive action. “Also him and Given, they continue to work with our fitness coach, Majdi, to build their fitness. When they are ready, they will be part of the team,” Ben Youssef added. The measured approach aims to avoid rushing players back, prioritizing long-term fitness and performance.
The reintegration of Msimango, Dortley and Mako comes at a crucial stage of the season, with Chiefs looking to maintain momentum following their recent win over Durban City. Their return is expected to provide tactical options and strengthen the squad depth as the club navigates domestic league challenges and potential CAF competitions. Chiefs fans will be watching closely as the trio edges closer to match readiness, offering optimism for the team’s upcoming fixtures.
