Kaizer Chiefs Sign Burundian Striker Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana! Amakhosi have continued to strengthen their side for the current campaign.

Kaizer Chiefs have today announced the capture of striker Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana on a two-year deal, with an option of a further year as well. This followed several reports and speculation regarding the deal.

He will compete with fellow new signing Ashley Du Preez for a starting birth in the #9 position. Bimenyimana is a different player to Du Preez though, as he his tall and strong, so he offers the Glamour Boys a different approach upfront.

“Kaizer Chiefs have signed striker Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana on a two-year deal with a further one-year option.” The club said in a statement this afternoon.

“Bimenyimana was born in Bujumbura in 1994. His exceptional football talent has seen him play in a variety of countries.

“The tall forward began his Club football at Vital’O in Burundi back in 2016, before moving on to Rayong Sport in Rwanda. He also played Club football in countries such as Latvia, Lithuania, Slovaki and Kazakhstan.

“His last Club was FC Kaysar Kyzylorda, who compete in the Kazakhstan topflight.

“He is the second Burundian to play for Chiefs after Valery Nahayo, who was with Amakhosi between 2008 and 2011.

“Bimenyimana is highly experienced and has played in the CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup with his former Club Rayon Sport of Rwanda. He scored three goals in six games in the 2018 edition of the Confederation Cup as his team made it to the quarterfinals.

“The 24-year-old has represented his country of birth Burundi in different international competitions on 17 occasions and scored 4 goals.

“He spent three weeks with Amakhosi during pre-season before going back home to sort out some of his business.

“The striker will start representing the Glamour Boys once he has received all the necessary papers.” The club said.
