South African giants Kaizer Chiefs has nurtured top midfielders over the years. Here is a top 5 list of the greatest midfielders to play for Amakhosi in their order.
5. Tinashe Nengomasha – a midfield general at Kaizer Chiefs during his prime, Tinashe Nengomasha won the South African PSL footballer of the year in 2004-2004 season. Nengomasha served the club for a decade before moving on with his career.
4. Thabo Mooki – Undoubtedly one of the top midfielders to wear the Kaizer Chiefs shirt. A Kaizer Chiefs die hard through and through Mooki spent his entire career at Amakhosi. Gifted with great vision in the middle of the park, Mooki was an intelligent player that possessed accurate passing.
3. Emmanuel “Scar” Ngobese – Popular for the flair and skill he brought onto the field, Scara as Ngobese was popularly known lit up the domestic premiership while at Chiefs. Ngobese died of Tuberculosis in 2010.

Renowned for his sleek passing and ability to enter into the opponents box, Moshoe represented the glamour boys with distinction. He later on played in Turkey before returning home. Moshoe died in 2015.
- Doctor Khumalo – Doctor, popularly known as 16-valve during his playing days stands as the greatest ever midfielder to put on a Kaizer Chiefs shirt. Khumalo had great vision, an eye for goal and endurance. Doctor was part of the Chiefs team which won three South African league titles and 5 cup competitions. Doctor was rewarded for his feats locally when he won the South African Footballer of the year accolade in 1992. Away from Chiefs Khumalo had a stint in Argentina before moving to the United States.
