Orlando Pirates defeated Stellenbosch FC 4-1 in the DSTV Premiership on Sunday afternoon. Star striker Kermit Erasmus has pleaded with the supporters to remain by their side.
Romeo scored his first league goal of the season in the win. Other goals came from Thabang Monare, Innocent Maela and Ndabayithethwa Ndlondlo.
Stellies grabbed a consolation goal through Mervin Boji.
“I think it was a great performance, me, and you [Thabang Monare] had a deal, you honored yours and I just thought it was right that I honor mine.” Erasmus elaborated to the club media after the win.
“I’m happy to get the goal today, contributed to the three points. Great team performance, great attitude after the first goal, after the second goal.
“Yes, it was a little bit disappointing to concede the goal, but I think [with] four goals we couldn’t have asked for better.”
Fellow goal scorer Thabang Monare has however reiterated the importance of always improving on performances, despite the win.
“It’s always great to win, especially when we are playing at home. And I think [that] also we can’t forget the fact that there is always room for improvement.
“I think we could’ve had a better game than we did, taking nothing way from the result. But we always have to look at it that way as a team, that there are always ways where we can get better and improve.” He spoke
“We always appreciate the love they [supporters] show us on the field and they are always spurring us on as the 12th man. We request that they keep on doing that and we’ll give our best performances every game and hopefully we can enjoy and be happy people at the end of the day.” Erasmus concluded.
