Khabo Zondo Laments Missed Chances Against Mamelodi Sundowns! Thwihli Thwahla lost at home to Masandawana over the weekend.

Royal AM lost 3-0 to Mamelodi Sundowns in the DSTV Premiership on Saturday night. Head coach Khabo Zondo was left bemoaning the opportunities they couldn’t take.

The hosts created a flurry of chances in the first half, which didn’t find the back of the net. Masandawana scored against the run of play through Neo Maema before the halftime break.

This knocked the wind out of the Royal AM sails, as they were on the backfoot for much of the second stanza. Cassius Mailula and Surprise Ralani scored in the dying embers of the match to seal victory for the visitors.

“Look, I believe we competed very well for more than 70% of the game,” Khabo Zondo told Mpho Maboi of SuperSport TV.

“Knowing Sundowns’ strength in terms of speed and ball rotation. We had to keep it compact in the middle.

“I think they scored from our own mistakes. Especially the two goals [that] they scored that made it 3-0.

“I thought my boys fought well, we didn’t create anything, the truth must be told, we didn’t create anything in the second half, except the one cross that [Mfundo] Thikazi took towards Ruzaigh [Gamaldien]. But at the end of the day, we were playing a good side.

“Well organised. They show why they score so many goals, you make a mistake they will punish you.

“We should have taken our chances in the first half, and we didn’t.” he added.
