Lebone Seema Eyes Bafana Bafana Dream Ahead of World Cup

With the FIFA World Cup just months away, Orlando Pirates defender Lebone Seema has opened up about his ambitions of representing Bafana Bafana. The 22-year-old arrived at Pirates from TS Galaxy at the start of the season as a surprise signing. Many expected him to play a limited role in a defence packed with experience. Players like Thabiso Sesane, Tapelo Xoki, Nkosinathi Sibisi and Mbekezeli Mbokazi were seen as first choices. Seema instead found himself pushed into action earlier than expected. Injuries to several senior defenders created an opening and Seema stepped up. The former TS Galaxy man took the opportunity without hesitation. He has made 19 appearances across all competitions this season. He has missed only two league matches since joining the Sea Robbers. Competition for places in Bafana Bafana’s defence remains intense. Siyabonga Ngezana and Nkosinathi Sibisi currently occupy the right centre-back role.
