Leonardo Castro Looking to Work Hard and Improve on His Game!

Leonardo Castro Looking to Work Hard and Improve on His Game! The Colombian striker recently returned from injury. Kaizer Chiefs face AmaZulu in the DSTV Premiership tomorrow evening. Striker Leonardo Castro will continue his return into the first team in the game.

The Colombian featured in his first match of the 2021/2022 season on Sunday afternoon. This came in the 1-0 win away to Maritzburg United at the Harry Gwala Stadium.

Castro came on late into the match to mark his return from injury. Like many players, he had a mental mountain to climb during his rehabilitation process.

“I was missing my teammates and being on the field, it was a tough time because the worst part of the injury was the recovery.” He said to the Kaizer Chiefs media.

“I kept my patience and needed to be mentally strong in order to get back into the team as soon as possible. Now, I’ve managed to get back and I want to continue to work hard and improve my game every day,” the striker spoke.

Castro is already behind in the pecking order to impress new head coach Stuart Baxter. He will have to fight for his place ahead of players who have stamped their first XI place.

“It is difficult because the season is on already and for me, there was no time to do a pre-season or friendly games or get into the rhythm. It was quite difficult, but I am going to work hard to help my team.

“We have a strong squad. Almost all the players are available for selection, which is a good point for us.

“With these games coming in the week and on the weekend, we are going to need everybody,” Castro confirmed.

The former Mamelodi Sundowns striker is likely to feature from the bench yet again tomorrow.
