Luis Suarez Wins La Liga Title & Proves Barcelona Wrong! Atletico Madrid won the 2020/2021 La Liga title on Saturday.

They came back to win 2-1 against Real Valladolid and secure the league. Striker Luis Suarez scored the all-important winning goal in the game.

The Uruguayan striker has been instrumental for Diego Simeone’s team this season. He finishes the campaign on 21 goals.

Suarez has been leading the line, and guiding Atletico to the title.

He joined the club at the beginning of the season. El Pistolero was shown the door by Barcelona when Ronald Koeman arrived at the club.

Suarez was deemed surplus to requirements. The club let him know that they feel he could not perform at the highest level any longer.

“Barcelona didn’t value me and Atletico opened their doors for me,” an emotional Suarez said.

“I will always be grateful to this club for trusting in me.

“I’m sure (Lionel) Messi is happy for me as a friend. It was a difficult situation that I had to experience because of the way I was treated (by Barcelona).

“Atletico had a great season despite the difficulties. It wasn’t normal that we had such a good first half of the season and it wasn’t normal that we had that big dip either but in the end we end up as champions.” He added.

The last time Atletico won the league was in 2014. This is manager Diego Simeone’s 2^nd La Liga triumph.
