Magesi FC Keen to Retain Thabang Sibanyoni for Next Season

As Magesi FC battles to secure their place in the Betway Premiership next season, the club is already planning for the upcoming campaign. A major priority is retaining on-loan striker Thabang Sibanyoni, who joined in January from Richards Bay United, where he was also on loan from Mamelodi Sundowns.

Insiders close to the club have revealed to Soccer Laduma that Sibanyoni’s performances have impressed both the technical team and management, prompting their strong desire to keep him beyond this season.

Magesi’s Interest in Sibanyoni

“The technical team has already decided on which players they want for next season, and Thabang (Sibanyoni) is one of them. Yes, they know he is on loan from Sundowns, and they are believed to have enquired about his availability for next season. It’s not clear at the moment whether they will go for another loan or a permanent move, but they want to keep him for next season,” an insider told the Siya crew.

Another source suggested that Mamelodi Sundowns, who are currently working on downsizing their squad, may be open to allowing Sibanyoni to stay at Magesi FC.

“It seems Sundowns will be willing to let him stay at Magesi as they are working on the downsizing of the squad, but it’s not yet clear whether it would be another loan deal or a permanent move. They want their players to get game time, and if Magesi wants to keep Thabang (Sibanyoni) for at least another season, there could be room for negotiations,” the source explained.

Sibanyoni’s Impact at Magesi

Since joining Magesi in January, the 29-year-old striker has featured in eight games, scoring twice. This marks an improvement from his stint at Richards Bay United earlier in the season, where he made seven appearances without scoring.

When approached for comment, Magesi FC PRO Abel Rakoma neither confirmed nor denied the club’s intention to retain Sibanyoni.

“I don’t want to give an individual response. I can only say it when the team as a collective has the answer for that. So, for now, there is nothing I can say from an individual point of view,” Rakoma told Soccer Laduma.

The decision on whether Magesi secures Sibanyoni for another season will depend on upcoming negotiations. However, his recent form highlights him as a valuable asset for their campaign.
