What Makes Cape Town City Great?
A new team in the PSL but a team that plays great football, that is Cape Town city. Cape Town City was once Black Aces and it bought by John Comitis. Within a year the team has won the Telkom Knockout cup after defeating Supersport United 2-1 in the final. Now the team sets eyes on the PSL title. But what makes City great?
Cape Town City, under the guidance of coach, Eric Tinkler, has been performing very well. The team is compromised of young player and veterans who gel well together and play as a unit. The team is very great in transitional football whereby they attack as a unit, defend as a unit and anyone scores in the team. Eric Tinkler, joined the side after leaving Orlando Pirates and he has been working well with former Pirates player such a Tshepo Gumede and Lehlohonolo Majoro.
What makes City a great side is the fact that they score goals. Beautiful play doesn’t win the game but it is goals that win the game. City score in all their fixtures, whether it is a draw or loose, they score. The opponent has to score to win or draw or give them a loss. The PSL leading scorer is none other than City captain, Lebogang Manyama who is on 11 goals and set to score more goals. City knocks the ball going forward, they are not static and the only way to defend for them is to score more goals and that is what they do very well. They are a great force and this is a team to look out for in the rest of the season and going forward.
