Mamelodi Sundowns 50 Year Anniversary Announcements

Mamelodi Sundowns would like to thank and express its gratitude to all the frontline health workers including nurses, doctors and other healthcare workers who have been treating Covid-19 patients and all the other patients in South Africa and the African Continent.

Mamelodi Sundowns is part of the companies and organisations that are associated with the Motsepe family and that have contributed R1 billion to the fight against Covid-19.

Sundowns was supposed to play a match against one of the top European football clubs as part of its 50 Year Anniversary Celebrations and because of the Coronavirus pandemic the match will not take place.

In the light of the current Covid-19 pandemic and the uncertainty, insecurity and anxiety, the planned 50 Year Anniversary Projects will take a more developmental, upliftment and philanthropic dimension until the South African Covid-19 status has been changed to Level 2 or Level 1.

Sundowns in partnership with the Mamelodi Sundowns Foundation is therefore today announcing the “Mamelodi Sundowns 50 Year Anniversary Most Popular Songs Challenge” which will be launched in June 2020. Sundowns will release more details in the coming weeks.

In terms of the Mamelodi Sundowns 50 Year Anniversary Most Popular Songs Challenge, participants will be able to compose and produce songs in the 11 official languages of South Africa and the public will be able to vote for their favourite songs.
