Uruguayan Mauricio Affonso made the most of a rare start for Sundowns by putting Sundowns ahead on seven minutes set up the 3-0 romp over Petro Luanda of Angola.

Sundowns got their other goals from Motjeka Madisha in the 29th, and Sphelele Mkhulise in the 76th.

In Saturday night’s other Group C game in Blida, Algeria, USM Alger and Wydad Casablanca drew their North African derby 1-1.

The Tshwane giants win to claim three points moved them to the top of Group C and they now travel to Morocco in their upcoming clash to take on Wydad Casablanca next Saturday.

On the domestic front, Masandawana are in line to claim silverware as they face Maritzburg United in the Telkom Knock out final on December 14 whilst they are 10 points behind early pace setters Kaizer Chiefs in the 2019/20 Absa Premiership campaign.
