Sundowns currently have a 7 point advantage over 2nd placed AmaZulu. They also have 4 matches left while Usuthu have 3 matches left to play.
If Sundowns win their game in hand, they would open up an unnasailable 10 point gap, meaning that league victory would be theirs.
In a season in which The Brazilians have been by far the best team, title victory has been imminent. Masandawana went unbeaten until April, when they surprisingly lost 2-1 at home to Kaizer Chiefs.
Sundowns also went 4 matches winless before they hammered Orlando Pirates 3-0 at the Orlando Stadium last Sunday. Other than this, they have been the team to beat this season.
