Mamelodi Sundowns Pay Tribute to the Late Grant Shakoane! The legendary radio broadcaster Mr Grant Shakoane passed away yesterday.
The cause of his demise remains unknown and private to his family at the moment. Mr Shakoane is famed for his RnB radio slot on Metro FM on Sundays from the early 80’s.
“The Chairman and the Motsepe Family, the Board of Directors, Technical Team, Players, Management, Staff, Supporters of Mamelodi Sundowns FC & the entire Yellow Nation express their deepest condolences to the Shakoane Family and are saddened by the passing of Grant Shakoane, a brother to our beloved colleague, Alex Shakoane.” A club statement reads.
“We pray that the Almighty God comforts and strengthens his family, friends and the country at large.
“Thanks for ‘The voice that will remain easy and gentle and ever so kind to our minds and ears’
“May His Soul Rest in Peace.” The statement concludes.
Mr Shakoane is a very popular figure in the country and his death has shocked many South Africans at large, not only radio heads.
“Thoughts and prayers to Ausi Albertina and her lovely family. Such a deeply sad and emotional time for one who was so deeply loved and appreciated by many”, sports broadcaster Robert Marawa tweeted.
Details on his death, memorial service and funeral are yet to be disclosed by the Shakoane family. Grant Shakoane is the older brother to Sundowns’ Alex Shakoane.
