Mamelodi Sundowns Record Win in Difficult Circumstances!
Mamelodi Sundowns defeated TS Galaxy 2-0 in Pretoria last night. This was Sundowns’ first game since the tragic death of key defender Motjeka Madisha.
Mamelodi Sundowns Record Win in Difficult Circumstances! They played just two days after Madisha passed away.
Sundowns pleaded with the PSL to have their match with TS Galaxy postponed until further notice. The PSL rejected this plea, citing the incident not to be an “extreme incident”.
Sundowns responded in a manner befitting of the champions. Understandably not their greatest performance, it was enough to garner a 2-0 win.
Goals from Themba Zwane and Peter Shalulile enough to claim all three points for The Brazilians.
Steve Komphela praised the mental strength that his boys showed in the midst of these trying times.
“A difficult evening. A game that we knew would not be played with tactics and technique or whatever” Steve Komphela told SuperSport TV’s Phumlani Msibi.
“But from a physical point of view you could see that we’re starting to drop. Even towards the end of the first half we dropped. End of second half, we dropped, naturally so.”
“But I think the most important is the mental part of it. There are stages where you think it has to be mind over matter”
“Distractions will always be there. But champions feed and thrive off of challenges.
“Adversity is the breakfast of champions. To whom much is given, much is expected.
“There is no way the almighty God can give you a huge problem on your head, without giving you broad shoulders to hold that head tight.
“and we said to Him in as much as we’re facing these challenges, we don’t pray for less problems. We wish to pray for more strength, and He’s done that”.
Themba Zwane won man of the match after scoring his 7th league goal of the season. He also provided his fourth assist of the season after putting Shalulile through.
