Mamelodi Sundowns responds to media allegations surrounding Percy Tau.
Mamelodi Sundowns confirmed that their star player has one more court appearance to attend to after being found guilty of breaching traffic laws, but also stated that the matter will not impact the player’s training.
It was reported in local media over the weekend that Tau was arrested for speeding in Limpopo as he was reportedly rushing to attend teammate, Tiyani Mabunda’s charity tournament.
The player was subsequently released on R1000 bail and is due to appear in court next month.
Sundowns’ Media Coordinator, Thulani Thuswa, confirmed the reports in local media about the 23-year-old Bafana Bafana international, but added that the matter took place nearly a month ago and despite Tau still having to attend one more court hearing, the player will continue with his training as usual.
“Yes, everything they said there (local media) was the truth. This happened a month ago, the player went to Tiyani Mabunda’s tournament. He went to court for speeding. He has one more (court) appearance. He will continue training as normal, nothing has changed,” said Thuswa.
