Mamelodi Sundowns Sign Aubrey Modiba From SuperSport United!
Mamelodi Sundowns Sign Aubrey Modiba From SuperSport United! Modiba becomes one of several players to cross the Pretorian Sundowns and Supersport bridge. He joins the likes of Anthony Laffor, Dennis Onyango and Hlompho Kekana. Modiba penned a 5 year contract with the reigning PSL champions.
Modiba joins Mothobi Mvala, Peter Shalulile, Gift Motupa and Ricardo Goss as the new Mamelodi Sundowns players. It is yet to be known who will manage Mamelodi Sundowns for the upcoming season. It is reported that Patrice Motsepe will hire Manqoba Mnqithi and Rulani Mokwena as the new head coaches.
Modiba was excited to join the most successful PSL side of the past 10 years.
“I am very happy to be part of the Mamelodi Sundowns, a team that is always competing for trophies every season, and that is something we want for ourselves, our families and the fans. I am looking forward to meeting all the players, technical staff and everyone here, so that we can share good moments together and continue winning and making everyone proud,” Modiba said when he was interviewed.
SuperSport United CEO Stanley Matthews wasn’t sour about Modiba’s transfer at all: “The Club has been consistent in our approach to the release of players for many years now. When a player helps us win trophies, plays his part in the club’s progress and gets a massive opportunity which is good for both him and us – then we open to discussion.
Sundowns have been pursuing Aubrey for a long time and the reality is we cannot come anywhere close to what is available to him. He has been a fantastic player for us on the pitch, a wonderful young man off the field, of whom we are very proud, and we wish him every success in the future – a future which looks very bright indeed.”
