Orlando Pirates drew 1-1 against Sekhukhune United in the DSTV Premiership this weekend. Head coach Jose Riveiro is keen to secure continental football next season.

The Buccaneers have drawn their last two league games. This means that they have failed to secure second spot with one match remaining.

They now have to defeat AmaZulu FC next weekend to finish a CAF Champions League position.

“I’m going to be honest, just in the last, not before extra time.” Riveiro told SuperSport TV after the encounter.

“It’s not a surprise, we’re fighting for a big achievement, both teams [SuperSport United as well], its normal that they are doing their job and let’s see what happens in one week.” He added.

The Buccaneers were left frustrated by Babina Noko on Saturday afternoon.

“First of all, you have to accept it and be patient and try to find more combinations where we at least apply pressure after the loss [of the ball] and have a second chance and maybe a third chance when the opposition is a little more disorganized.

“In the first attempt, when they are with 5-4 [players] in front of the box, it’s so difficult for everyone in the world. We are not an exception, it’s a tricky situation for every team.

“I think we did it well enough to get the lead, but we cannot concede the goal that we concede. It’s unacceptable, we need to do a reflection and do it better next time because we’re playing finals, we’re playing crucial games and these type of details in the end make a huge difference, as you can see.” The Spaniard concluded.
