Mamelodi Sundowns Start Nedbank Cup Campaign With A High
The fourth most successful side in the Nedbank Cup, Mamelodi Sundowns began their campaign with a win against amateur side Mariveni United. Mamelodi Sundowns came out guns blazing with great football style of beautiful runs and passes. Leonardo Castro opened the scoring line with a beautiful goal in the second half.
Mariveni United could not stand the experienced side and they bleed in the second half. Anthony Laffor and Sibusiso Vilakazi had a great run and the amateur side held on their cool to not be beaten 24-0 but rather 2-0. Sundowns are now through to the last 16 of the Nedbank Cup and more action is expected to unfold in the cup competition which Supersport United won last year.
Nedbank Cup is a great cup competition that allows amateur sides to compete with the top flight teams playing in the PSL. The games unfold as a spectacle would unfold and they portray the talent and beauty that South African football has and over the years the competition has continued to rise with great support and unexpected outcomes. There is more to look out for in this last cup competition of the 2016/17 season.
