Mamelodi Sundowns Striker Tokelo Rantie Goes AWOL
Mamelodi Sundowns and former Bafana Bafana striker Tokelo Rantie has reverted back to his old bad and self-destructive ways by going AWOL from the squad who faced with quite a hectic schedule would have done good with the frontman.
Coach Pitso Mosimane who took a huge gamble by signing the striker whose career had been blighted by discpline and off-the- field issues confirmed that he has not seen striker in weeks and has no idea where he is.
“Aaai Tokelo‚ I don’t know. I haven’t seen him‚ maybe you can locate him but we will see‚” said Mosimane.
Rantie joined Sundowns in September after almost eight months on the sidelines, having previously parted ways with Cape Town City in December last year for the same offence.
Rantie is no stranger to controversy as in 2016, he was sacked from the Bafana squad after falling out with coach Shakes Mashaba and going AWOL from his Turkish club, Genclerbirligi in 2018.
Rantie is likely to be discarded by Sundowns and have his contract terminated as Mosimane has shown in the past that he has no tolerance for players who destabilise the team with ill-discipline as former defender Siyabonga Zulu had to be shown the exit door for failing to report for training.
