Just like Jose Mourinho, Luis Enrique and Alex Ferguson; these are some of the most successful coaches in the history of football having won everything there is to compete for in club football. Mamelodi Sundowns is the current most successful side in South Africa and we take a trip down to trace the most three most successful men who have been on the Sundowns hot seat.
1.Pitso Mosimane is by far the most successful coach in Sundowns having won the Nedbank Cup, PSL, CAF Champions league and CAF Super Cup. Pitso is currently among the top 10 best coach in the world.
2.Ted Dumitru is a former captain of the tshwane giants ship and he steered it with success. The second season of the PSL era saw the arrival of Romanian mentor Ted Dumitru at Chloorkop to replace German coach Reinhard Fabisch. The Tshwane giants were impressive under Dumitru, suffering just four defeats the whole season with a rock-solid defence conceding only 25 goals in 34 matches
3.We all know Paul Dolezar. A coach who acted very well and sat on his own chair away from the bench. Under his tutelage, Sundowns made it a hat-trick of PSL titles, topping the table with 75 points again and running away from second-placed Orlando Pirates with an 11-point margin as the Buccaneers could only manage 64 points.
4.Neil Tovey and Miguel Gamondi took Sundowns to great heights as well. Under the combined stewardship of the 1996 AFCON-winning captain and the Argentinian Gamondi, Sundowns edged out both Pirates and Chiefs in the title race with 57 points.
5. We should not forget Gordon Igesund. Igesund led Sundowns to successfully defend their title with a comfortable 61 points over second-placed Silver Stars (now Platinum Stars) on 51 points.
