MaMkhize Reacts To Qualifying For CAF CC

Royal AM owner Shauwn “MaMkhize” Mkhize has reacted to qualifying for CAF Confederation Cup after they finished in the third position in the DStv Premiership

It was the first season for Thwihli Thwahla but they are already on everyone’s lips with the spectacular performances they have displayed against big guns and other teams in the Premier Soccer League.

On Monday night, Royal AM were holding its breath that Orlando Pirates do not win with at least five goals margin against SuperSport United in order for the KwaZulu Natal team to hold on to their third spot.

MaMkhize seems happy with their performance so far. “The soccer season is finally over and we have a lot to be thankful for as a club,” she wrote on social media.

“As the president of the club I’m particularly proud of my team for achieving great results in our debut season in the PSL:

Being awarded player of the month and a coach of the month in March.

Having our top goal scorer representing us in our SA squad and finishing no2 on the PSL goal scorers.

Winning Q3 innovation for the club’s outstanding performance.

Being nominated for coach of the season, most promising player of the tournament, and footballer of the season.

Finishing the season as position 3 on the log.

Qualifying for the top 8.

Qualifying for the CONCAF [sic] …we are going to play in AFRICA.

“The highlight of the season for me has to be our last seven games where all our defence players were injured and we were only left with the evergreen CAPTAIN and we had to convert the defensive midfielder to become central defence and they came in and fought for the badge like soldiers.

“Royal AM words cannot begin to describe how proud I am of you, you have done extremely well and surpassed all expectations. Next season we are coming back bigger and stronger. I love you all bafana bam.”

A few weeks ago, MaMkhize said that their initial plan for this season was to just save the status and remain in the league but the boys have done way beyond her wishes.

“Success is not planned but as I’ve always said this year, we wanted to save our status and we ended up being in the top two or three mix,” MaMkhize told TimesLIVE..

“The initial plan for next season was the top eight, and now we don’t know where we are going to end up. Our intention is to be in the top eight, but what I can say is that we are not here to add numbers.

“I think our biggest lesson for this season is that we must play every game as if it’s a cup final and not take anything for granted.”
