Peter Shalulile Hat-Trick Keeps Namibia’s World Cup Hopes Alive

Mamelodi Sundowns striker Peter Shalulile continues to underline his status as one of Africa’s most clinical forwards after scoring a hat-trick in Namibia’s 3-0 victory over Sao Tome and Principe in a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier.

The 31-year-old Brave Warriors captain struck on the stroke of half-time, added his second in the 67th minute, and sealed the win with his third just four minutes later. His goals lifted Namibia to second place in Group H with 15 points, seven behind leaders Tunisia, who have already secured qualification. Namibia must now face Liberia before wrapping up their campaign against the North African giants.

Shalulile’s treble comes shortly after he etched his name in South African football history by surpassing Siyabonga Nomvethe’s record to become the PSL’s all-time leading goalscorer with 130 goals. For his country, the Sundowns striker has now taken his tally to 19 international goals, further cementing his role as Namibia’s all-time top scorer.

His agent, Jakes Amaning, praised the striker’s performance and consistency. “Peter is not only the top scorer in the PSL, but also the top scorer of the Namibian national team. With his hat-trick, he has now reached 19 goals for his country. The strike he scored on Tuesday was unbelievable, the kind only a true legend can produce,” Amaning said.

Amaning also emphasized Shalulile’s importance to Sundowns. “They don’t need to search for another striker because they already have the best one in Peter. His goals should be compiled for fans to see the quality he brings. Tuesday’s finish was world-class and shows why Namibia can still dream of reaching the playoffs.”

Shalulile’s form has made him indispensable for both Sundowns and Namibia. His tireless work rate, positioning, and finishing ability continue to set him apart in African football. As the Brave Warriors chase a possible playoff spot, all eyes will remain on Shalulile to deliver once again.

With milestones at both club and international level already achieved, Shalulile’s reputation as one of the continent’s elite strikers grows stronger with every game.
