Striker Peter Shalulile scored a hattrick as Mamelodi Sundowns beat Swallows FC 4-2 in the DSTV Premiership. Co-coach Manqoba Mngqithi praised the efforts of the Namibian striker.
Sha Sha is now on 18 league goals after last nights treble. He is set to win this year’s Golden Boot Award.
But even more impressively, the striker is on course to become only the fifth player in the history of the PSL to score more that 20 league goals in a single campaign.
He would become the first since Siyabonga Nomvethe in 2012, for Moroka Swallows.
“Credit must be given to Peter for the three goals that he has scored.” The tactician told the club media.
“And also, credit must be given to players like George [Maluleka] AJ [Andile Jali], Brian Onyango, Mshishi and Surprise Ralani. They all did very well and looked good when they came short to assist the team to initiate attack from the back and that was very encouraging
“The most important thing with Peter [is that] he deserves that reward of scoring goals because he’s one of the most professional players I have ever worked with in my career. [He is] one player that never puts his foot wrong in terms of giving himself.
“Giving his heart to the team and I’m sure everyone in the club is excited to have a player like him because he’s such a good role model. Even when things are going well for him, he works the hardest in the team and that’s very important.” He added.
