Mapeza’s Chippa United Eases Relegation Worries With Second Consecutive Win
Norman Mapeza is fighting tooth and nail to take Chippa United out of the drop zone and his side eased their fans’ worries by dispatching Black Leopards 3-0 at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium yesterday to record their second consecutive win of the 2019/20 Absa Premiership season.
The Chilli Boys secured the win thanks to goals from Thabo Rakhale, Augustine Kwem and William Twala.
Chippa United with only 12 games played into the season are already in a relegation battle of sorts, remain bottom of the log but are now just a point away from AmaZulu and Stellenbosch in 15th and 14th respectively, while Lidoda Duvha are only a point further ahead.
Mapeza took over the team languishing at the bottom of the table with no single victory in the league but yesterday they registered their second victory in a row, after the 2-0 win away to Amazulu before the international break.
Mapeza has a chance to force a smile from his no-nonsense chairman Siviwe Mpengesi by further going up the log standings at the weekend when they host Baroka FC on Sunday.
