Mapimpi proved to be a rare gem in the South African team offensive arsenal and united the team for good despite being stalked by racism allegations against him in the Bomb Squad team traditional rite scandal after the group stage victory over Italy.
He flatly denied any racial inclinations or undertones linked to the traditional team celebrations which united the team to focus on its goals despite facing criticism from some quarters.
Nofikelepi expressed satisfaction and joy over the achievements of her grandson saying how happy she is that despite her initial remonstrations Makazole, her grandson stuck to his rugby dream which started by playing with plastic balls in the Eastern Cape.
“Since he was in school, this is what he wanted. I used to shout at him [for playing], then I realised I was wrong. He knew the reasons he was at school. He wanted rugby. He would roll the plastics into a ball and kick it. ” said grandmother Nofikelepi.
Twitter was abuzz with both cheers and jokes about Mapimpi’s grandmother gesture with many in appreciation of her kindness and love towards the Boks star.
