Maponyane: “Majoro Is Not One Of Those Lazy Strikers”
Marks Maponyane sympathizes with Orlando Pirates striker Lehlohonolo Majoro, who is finding it tough to play regularly, even though he always performs well when given an opportunity.Maponyane speaking with Goal.com said he cannot blame Majoro for lack of game at Pirates as he always comes to the party when given a chance.
“You cannot really fault the player for game time and he is not doing anything wrong really,” Maponyane told Goal.
“It’s all about luck; he needs to be lucky to play regularly.
Moponyane and Majoro has played for both the Soweto giants Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs respectively.
Lehlogonolo “Major”, left Chiefs in bad terms 2013 due to lack of game time with the former Amakhosi coach, Stuart Baxter, preferring Kingston Nkhatha and Bernard Parker as his regular twin srikers upfront. Majoro’s situation has not changed that much at Pirates with Kermit Erasmus and Thamsanqa Gabuza as preferred forwads.
“He always does well when gives a chance. He is not one of those lazy strikers because he is deadly and makes those important runs,” said Maponyane.
“It’s one of those situations where you have to do your best when given a chance.
“He should just do his work, because like I said, he is not at fault. It is a case of coming in and doing your best, you know what I mean.
“There is nothing you can do as a player, I saw Andy Carroll of West Ham coming in for a few minutes at the weekend, but it was too late to do anything.
“You just have to do your job because you cannot really question the coach about it, you just have to do your best by rattling the net when given the chance,” concluded Maponyane.
