Versatility May Work for Bandile Shandu at Orlando Pirates! The newly signed player can deputise in more than one position on the football pitch.

Bandile Shandu has joined Orlando Pirates from Maritzburg United on a three-year contract. As he is joining a much bigger team, competition for a starting position will be much tougher at this level.

Fortunately for the 26-year-old, Shandu has deputised at right back and in the middle of the field as well. This may help his cause as Orlando Pirates is littered with quality players all over the park.

But at the same time, he is not the only versatile player at the club. Both Abel Mabaso and Siphelele Ndlovu play at right back and midfield, just lie Shandu himself.

“It’s difficult because of the quality that Orlando Pirates has, but I’ll keep doing what’s worked for me ‘til this points. I always strive to work hard, do the basics right, and follow the Coach’s instructions.

“Basically, just try and add value and do whatever is required by the team to the best of my ability. So, I am just willing to do that and contribute to the team’s cause, and make sure that we achieve a lot in the upcoming season.” Bandile Shandu told the Orlando Pirates media.

He joined the club on a free transfer. So, there is a lot of uncertainty from the Orlando Pirates fans about this new signing.

Especially as fellow big teams Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs did not show interest in the free agent. Shandu, however, promises to give his best for the fans of the club.

“I’m really honoured to be playing for Orlando Pirates. What I can promise is that each time I am on the pitch, I’ll always give 100% and ensure that the fans are happy.” He concluded.
