Masilela on Verge of Signing For Amazulu
Former Kaizer Chiefs left footed defender Tsepo Masilela could be nearing a return to top-flight football with AmaZulu.
Masilela has been on trial at Usuthu for the past week, working hard to impress coach Jozef Vukusic.
The Durban-based side are aiming to add experience to their defence that recently shipped in 5 goals against Mamelodi Sundowns in the Last 16 Telkom Knockout played on Sunday at the Lucas Moripe Stadium in Atteridgeville on Sunday afternoon.
Tsepo Masilela, a former Bafana Bafana international last played a game 18 months ago (2017/18) in a sparse season on the pitch for Kaizer Chiefs.
The 34-year-old left back’s career has being beset by knee and ankle problems.
Amazulu defensive woes have led to the signing of another former Kaizer Chiefs defender Mario Booysen who however had to endure the calamity of scoring an own goal on his debut in the 5 nil rout by Sundowns.
Amazulu midfielder Talent Chawapiwa is excited at the prospect of lining alongside the experienced defender.
“It’s a good thing to play with those kind of senior players, and you know the league they understand better. And also we can learn from them also. I think he is much, much better now because he’s got lots of experience now.”
“I think it’s a right timing for him, if they can sign him then it’s a good thing, if they can sign him” said Chawapiwa.
AmaZulu visit Baroka FC at Peter Mokaba Stadium on Sunday in a league encounter hoping for a change of fortunes as they fight to secure their Premier League status as they currently lie second from bottom with 5 points from 8 games.
