MC Alger Coach Rulani Mokwena Gets Boost as Key Players Return

MC Alger boss Rulani Mokwena received a timely boost as several star players returned to action, strengthening his squad ahead of upcoming fixtures.
Mokwena’s tenure has been disrupted by postponed matches and a limited squad due to African Nations Championships (CHAN) commitments. He has overseen just one official game, a 0-0 draw against rivals USM Alger, before domestic football paused for the international break.
During the break, three summer signings — Ishak Boussouf, Zinedine Ferhat, and Alhassan Bangoura — were cleared to play, while Larbi Thabeti and Mohamed Benkhemassa returned from injury. Their availability gives Mokwena a wider selection pool and fresh options for his tactical plans.
Bangoura is set to face teammate Alexis Guendouz as Guinea takes on Algeria, with both players expected to rejoin MC Alger ahead of their next league fixture.
Marouane Khalif remains sidelined with a minor injury but is expected to be fit for the club’s CAF Champions League preliminary round first leg against Liberian side Fassell.
MC Alger will face Olympique Akbou on Friday evening in Mokwena’s second game in charge. The coach and fans hope the returning players will help revive the team’s league campaign and provide stability as they prepare for continental competition.
