MC Alger Determined to Upset Pirates in Champions League Quarterfinal Return Leg

Orlando Pirates are set for a decisive CAF Champions League quarterfinal second-leg clash against MC Alger at Orlando Stadium on Wednesday. With a 1-0 advantage from the first leg, the Buccaneers are in pole position to reach the semifinals, but the Algerian giants remain confident of overturning the deficit.
MC Alger’s Last Stand in Soweto
The first leg in Algiers saw Mohau Nkota secure victory for Pirates, giving them a slim lead heading into the return fixture. Now, MC Alger must win to keep their continental dreams alive, while a draw would be enough for the hosts to advance.
Despite their uphill task, MC Alger head coach Khaled Ben Yahia has expressed confidence in his side’s ability to respond under pressure.
“We won’t say the match against Orlando Pirates will be easy. Everyone saw the performance they put in against us at home, but we’re going to South Africa to defend our chances,” said Ben Yahia.
“Nothing is impossible in football. We just have to believe that our chances still exist and do everything we can to return with a qualification ticket.”
Pirates’ Unbeaten Run at Stake
The Soweto giants remain undefeated in this season’s CAF Champions League, a record they will look to maintain in front of their home supporters. Having won the tournament once before in 1995, Pirates are aiming to secure their second star, especially with Jose Riveiro set to depart at the end of the season.
With continental glory on the line, both teams are expected to put up a fierce battle under the lights at Orlando Stadium. Will Pirates hold on and secure a spot in the last four, or can MC Alger stage a dramatic comeback?
