MC Alger Head Coach Confident Ahead of CAF Champions League Quarter-Final Against Orlando Pirates

MC Alger head coach Khaled Ben Yahia has declared that his team is fully prepared for their crucial CAF Champions League quarter-final clash against South Africa’s Orlando Pirates. The two sides will face off at the Stade du 5 Juillet 1962 on Tuesday evening, marking the first-ever encounter between MC Alger and a South African team in Africa’s premier club competition.

After a successful start to their continental campaign, where Orlando Pirates played their first match away in Algeria, the Sea Robbers will return to the North African nation for the knockout stages. Pirates have experience in the region, having previously secured a 2-1 victory over CR Belouizdad earlier in the season, giving them confidence heading into this encounter.

However, MC Alger, currently atop the Algerian Ligue Professionnelle 1 standings, will be looking to create history in this two-legged quarter-final. Their head coach, Khaled Ben Yahia, remains optimistic and confident that his team is ready to overcome the South African side. Despite knowing the tough task ahead, Ben Yahia believes the team is more than prepared to handle the challenge.

“We are expecting a tough match against a strong and well-organized opponent, but we will strive for a positive result,” Ben Yahia said, speaking ahead of the first leg. “We are ready for this match. The suspension of the tournament has given us a good opportunity to prepare better. We have studied the opponent by watching many of its matches on video, and we have a clear idea of their style of play.”

MC Alger’s ambition is clear, with the club aiming to advance beyond the quarter-finals for the first time since their last CAF Champions League title in the 1975/76 season. With a rich history in the competition, the Algerian side is determined to break their quarter-final curse and make a deep run this season.

As the two teams prepare for a tense and high-stakes encounter, it will be interesting to see if the Sea Robbers can replicate their previous success in Algeria or if MC Alger will rise to the occasion and secure a historic victory on home soil. The clash is set to be a thrilling battle, with both teams fully aware of the importance of the result.
