McCarthy unsure of his position at Pirates
For a while reports have been saying that the former ace goal-scorer Benni McCarthy was set to take over as the Orlando Pirates coach. The Buccaneer’s chairperson Irvin Khoza, had already concluded a deal with McCarthy (an announcement to this effect will need made tomorrow).
That was two weeks ago and everyone is still waiting for it to be confirmed.
Pirates resumes their Premier league game Wednesday against Platinum Stars at the Royal Bafokeng Sports Palace. Augusto Palacios club Director of Development is still caretaker coach.
While it is believed that McCarthy’s name has come under consideration amongst many others to become the Pirates coach, they might have a lack of confidence with him over his lack of experience in the role.
Despite recently obtaining a UEFA A coaching certificate he has never filled up the position of head coach, he is only known for his position as an assistant coach in Europe, and by the looks of things it did not really do much for him.
For now Palacios is still in control of the boys.
