Modise Defends Kompela On Not Winning A Championship
Modise Defends Kompela On Not Winning A Championship! Teko Modise might not be a Chiefs player but he fully understands the position Kompela, being criticized for not winning a Championship.
Having had won his first ever Championship in 2014 with Mamelodi Sundowns despite being one of PSL’s best players, Teko relates to Komplela who has not won any Championship in his 15-year coaching career and more recently with Kaizer Chiefs.
In a recent interview, Teko used himself as an example saying people had counted him out but in football, anything is possible.
“Look at the transition he [Steve] has made in building the team; the number of young players and also a core that is ageing. People have been critical without understanding the process that is ongoing inside the club,”
Modise told Sowetan.
“He is a smart coach who believes in his vision. At some point people were thinking he is crazy. To be a great coach you need to be crazy sometimes; to take decisions that are unpopular, and he has been doing that.
“Hopefully, in the coming season he will still be coaching the same team to justify what it was that he was busy doing.”
