A very short but fast defender, that is none other than Siboniso Gaxa. These are the 10 things you don’t know about the Bidvest Wits marksman.

  1. Siboniso Gaxa, is now officially a Wits player since 2016.
  2. Gaxa was named among those who were released by Amakhosi at the end of last season although the club had initially announced on their official Twitter account that he had extended his stay for a further year in 2015.
  3. In 2016, Gaxa took Chiefs to court for news related to his contract that Chiefs would not renew. Gaxa lost the case in 2016 and joined Wits.
  4. Gaxa is the most capped player to have played for Supersport United in 2002 to 2008 making 131 appearances for Matsatsantsa.
  5. He made 81 appearances for Chiefs between 2012 and 2016. Chiefs is the second club in the PSL Gaxa has had most appearances for.
  6. In 2002, he moved to Supersport United, where he stayed for six seasons, before joining Mamelodi Sundowns in 2008. In 2010 he moved to Belgian club Lierse.
  7. He was given the nickname “Pa” which is shortened from “Papa” which means “father” because when he was a child he behaved like an adult. He was always very mature.
  8. Gaxa made his international debut in a 2006 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Cape Verde on 4 June 2005.
  9. He has won the PSL 3 times. Twice with Chiefs and once Supersport United.
  10. Gaxa attended the University of Port Elizabeth, which at that time had a football team controlled by Danish side F.C Copenhagen.
