Mpho Makola Could Be Banned For 6 Months After Pushing Referee Again! This incident happened on the MTN 8 final on Saturday night.
Mpho Makola was seen clearly pushing assistant referee Cladwin Baloyi on Saturday night in the MTN 8 final. He has been investigated and a suspension is looming.
This is the second time Bibo has been seen pushing a SAFA referee on the field of play. In 2019 he was suspended after pushing referee Abongile Tom in a match against Kaizer Chiefs.
Makola, alongside many of the Cape Town City playing staff, were unhappy with the referees and Dennis Onyango. The Ugandan seemed to have moved off his line during the controversial penalty shootout.
“I’ve got something that I’m looking for there.” PSL Prosecutor Nande Bekcker told Sowetan yesterday.
“I didn’t watch the final, so I didn’t see the major incidents. I have called for the video footage at the end of the penalty shootout to see what was going on there,” Becker added.
“I’ve got the match referee’s report. I’m waiting for the assistant referee’s report, so everything should be clearer tomorrow [today].
“I just saw a very short clip somebody took off the television screen. I saw a player from Cape Town City shove the match official with both hands.”
It is unlikely that Makola would survive another ban, as he did last time.
“There will be a fight again as the DC previously banned the player for six months and after the appeal, they reduced the sanction there,” he said.
“I’m pretty sure it will be different this time because it is not the first time it has happened with that particular club.”
The player in question is expected to be charged by the end of the week. Mpho Makola Could Be Banned For 6 Months After Pushing Referee Again!
