Mxolisi Macuphu Wants TS Galaxy To Have A Winning Culture! The towering striker wants his team to do well in the Nedbank Cup.
TS Galaxy take on fellow Mpumalanga based outfit TS Sporting in the Nedbank Cup this weekend. There’s a discrepancy between the sides as TS Sporting is a GladAfrica Championship side.
As it is a derby, Macuphu is aware that TS Sporting will come out all guns blazing. Especially as they want to prove themselves against a PSL side.
“The Nedbank Cup draw is a tricky one. It is a derby. Derbies are always special. They are all about the bragging rights. They are a GladAfrica Championship team.” Macuphu told the TS Galaxy website.
“They will come in to this game more invigorated. I don’t think there is a player that doesn’t want to play in the elite league. The boys will want to show our technical team what they can do.
“I can promise to TS Galaxy fans that we will go out there and fight to go in to the next round. The club has been blessed with winning this trophy before. We want to develop that culture.”
The striker has 4 goals and 2 assists in this season’s DSTV Premiership so far. He is looking to score more goals and reach his realistic target for the season.
“I’ve scored four goals this season and assisted a few. The target for me has been realistically 10 goals. Anything above that will be a bonus. 10 goals for me will do well for me.
“The most important thing is retaining the status of the team and then next season we will be a much more stronger team,” he added.
Mxolisi Macuphu is very aware that strikers are judged on their goals. Performances are extremely key but their goal return will always be how strikers are adjudicated.
“As a striker you always get judged by the number of goals that you score. It takes a special individual or a coach to say, my striker is not scoring but what amount of contribution are putting forward to the team.
“Are you assisting in scoring goals or are you influential going forward. Time and time again, you’ll be out of form but mental strength is the key. If you mental strength, you’ll always comes up on top. Yes, you always have a pressure as a footballer but it is how you deal with it that is important,” Macuphu concluded.
