Namibia head coach Collin Benjamin recently visited Naturena, the training facilities of Kaizer Chiefs. He was impressed with the venue and the camp itself.
Namibia played against Burundi and Cameroon in the AFCON Qualifiers in South Africa recently. They drew 1-1 against Burundi and defeated Cameroon 2-1 at the Dobsonville Stadium, in Soweto.
Before leaving the country, Benjamin, the only Namibian to have played in the UEFA Champions League, in his playing days, visited The Phefeni Glamour Boys.
“I am so impressed with the facilities and what has been built here in Naturena. It is inspiring to see. Hopefully, the targets that we want to reach with Kaizer Chiefs in terms of co-operation and exchange will materialise soon” Benjamin told the Amakhosi media.
“I would not be lying if I said that half of Namibia are Kaizer Chiefs fans. Me, myself, watching Doctor Khumalo, Thabo Mooki’s and all our countrymen playing here, I had to support Chiefs” he added.
The head coach was welcomed by Kaizer Motaung Junior and Molefi Ntseki.
“It was a powerful win for Namibia against Cameroon they have some good players and well done to them”.
“It was a pleasure for us to welcome Collin and we had a really interesting discussion. It is important for us to collaborate with different teams from around the continent.
“We can get a lot out of collaborating with coach Collin and his team. Namibia have players in the PSL doing well and we have had players from there in the past, so we know the kind of quality players they do produce.”
Namibia now has a great chance at qualifying for AFCON next year after their win over Cameroon.
“After yesterday, we are all happy and proud. The team did very very well and the preparations for the next game starts from tomorrow”. He spoke.
