Nasreddine Nabi Confirms Kaizer Chiefs Could Still Make More Signings Before Transfer Deadline

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi has confirmed that the club could still add to their squad before the domestic transfer window closes on September 22.
Chiefs have already been active in the market, securing Flavio Silva, Siphesihle Ndlovu, Ethan Chislett, Nkanyiso Shinga, Thabiso Monyane, and Paseka Mako. The club has also promoted Thulani Mabaso, Naledi Hlongwane, Kabelo Nkgwesa, and Manqoba Ozoemena from their development ranks.
“The window is not closed,” Nabi said. “If you have opportunities, the scouting team is working. If you have a good opportunity, then why not? But I want a player with more qualities than what I already have. I don’t want a player with the same quality.”
Chiefs have been linked with Nigerian striker Etiosa Ighodaro since the start of pre-season. The former AmaZulu forward is contracted to another club dealing with administrative matters, which has slowed potential negotiations.
“The player belongs to another team with administrative issues, but him or another striker that we have listed as potential signings will be welcome,” Nabi explained. “We will wait to hear from our administration if him or another player is going to join. I saw the player last season and I believe he is a good player, but he doesn’t right now belong to our club, so I can’t really talk about him.”
Another forward linked to Chiefs is Bosnian striker Dzenan Zajmovic, who scored 11 goals and registered two assists for TS Galaxy last season. Zajmovic is now a free agent, but Nabi says there has been no direct contact.
“I don’t want to talk about the striker from Galaxy. I don’t know if he is in the vision of the club. But if we have the opportunity to recruit him, particularly if he has residence, then automatically yes,” Nabi said.
Amakhosi still have one foreign player slot available, giving them room to move if the right deal becomes available in the final weeks of the window.
