Natasha Tsichlas On What Is The Difference Between Bafana And Banyana

The seasoned football administrator Natasha Tsichlas has just given a difference between South African senior men and women national football teams. This is after Banyana Banyana grabbed a 1-0 win against Zambia in WAFCON semifinal yesterday to take spot in the final.

Meanwhile, Bafana Bafana crashed out of COSAFA Cup mainstream in the quarterfinals on Wednesday last week after being defeated by Mozambique on penalties. Tsichlas heaped praise on Banyana who have demonstrated depth and quality in the squad as they continue to be consistent despite injury and Covid 19 concerns.

“We were on the phone with each other till 3 o’clock in the morning,” Tsichlas tells KickOff.com. “Don’t forget the injuries, Covid in the Banyana team, the win shows the depth of this team. Any player can come in and produce the same quality.”

“The whole Banyana team includes quality players and also the heart and determination. You should see the spirit. Once again Banyana makes us proud as a nation, and it is definitely the best team in Africa.”

“Don’t forget that the players most of them come from development, and today they are top class players in the world. I’m sure the Bafana players are also looking and also feeling that they have to give something more for their country.

“Don’t forget Bafana they are professional players and Banyana is a group of development players, that is the difference. We must inspire them, Bafana, I’d encourage the Bafana players to also try to be better and better and bring the glory as Banyana does.

“I know they can do it Bafana, they must just bond together, like the old times. Bafana players, we must encourage them, we must push them, we must give them the confidence they need. We must not lose hope in Bafana, they are our children we must encourage them all the time.”

“Banyana Banyana achieved this feat on Mandela Day and marked it by clinching a place in the final. We send our congratulations to the team after this massive effort,” Dr Jordaan said.
