The Brazil captain Neymar Jr was disappointed yesterday when the Olympics hosts Brazil played against South Africa and the match ended as a stalemate. South Africa’s side finished the first half with 10 men but they managed to handle Brazil. Neymar Says The draw with South Africa is like a defeat. The Barcelona forward Neymar and Manchester City attack midfielder Gabriel Jesus couldn’t place the ball behind the the South Africa’s team net.
Brazil failed to defeat South Africa and Neymar was very disappointed with the poor performanc his team showed,but he added with a statement that all opening matches are always difficult. Neymar made two brilliant shots but they were not a threat to the South African goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune.
“The first game is always the most difficult, for the nerves you have before you begin to play,” he said. “For us, the draw is like a defeat. We have to win, we know our responsibility. We will stay calm and get back to work again as soon as possible, so that we play well on Sunday.”
“I don’t know how many great Brazilians have played in the Olympics and not been able to win it,” he added. “We know this is not easy, we cannot just show up and take home the gold medal. We must play our football. We found it more difficult [tonight] and we must learn to overcome this.”
“I had to score that goal,” he said. “I could not miss it. I’m very upset, I’m not going to sleep tonight. I keep thinking about it, watching it again and again. It’s embarrassing.”
