Ngcobo Reacts To Winning Goal Of The Season

Kaizer Chiefs’ talented midfielder Nkosingiphile ‘Mshini’ Ngcobo won the prize for the 2021/22 DStv Premiership Goal of the Season. Ngcobo’s winning goal was the low piledriver he rifled in from 30 yards which shaved the upright before shaking the net in the 2-0 win over Sekhukhune FC in the DStv Premiership match played at FNB Stadium on 12 December 2021.

The Goal of the Season award was announced by the PSL on Wednesday 15 June during the build-up to the promotional playoffs between Swallows FC and AmaTuks.

Six goals were shortlisted for the coveted prize and Mshini’s goal was voted the best over Deon Hotto, Keagan Dolly’s two goals, Reeve Frosler and Thabo Matlaba’s goals.

The 22-year-old midfielder walked away with prize money of R50 000, courtesy of the League and DStv.

“I was happy to be nominated and was hoping to be voted the winning goal. People from all quarters, from Amakhosi supporters to family members, kept updating me that they are voting. I am very happy and proud of myself and I think it was a good goal. I thank everyone who voted, Amakhosi supporters and my teammates who helped me to score the goal,” Ngcobo told www.kaizerchiefs.com after being informed that he had been declared the winner.

While other awards were swept by Mamelodi Sundowns players Andile Jali and Peter Shalulile and other individuals. Masandawana’s co-coaches were awarded with the coach of the season accolade.

It was no surprise that Masandawana individuals would win big in the awards having won all the domestic trophies this campaign.Andile Jali won the MTN Last Man Standing award, Nedbank Cup Player of the Tournament, and the Midfielder of the Season award.

While Peter Shalulile took the famous Lesley Manyathela Golden Boot award for being a top goal-scorer with 23 goals. The Namibian striker also scooped DStv Premiership Player’s Player of the Season and Footballer of the Season.
