Romain Folz Says They Deserve to Qualify to MTN 8 Final! Usuthu drew at home to Amakhosi yesterday afternoon.

AmaZulu qualified to the MTN 8 final by drawing 0-0 at home to Kaizer Chiefs in their MTN 8 semi-final second leg. Head coach Romain Folz insists that this was an earned qualification.

Usuthu go to the final by virtue of the away-goals rule. They drew 1-1 in the first leg, away to Amakhosi at the FNB Stadium.

Goals came from Gabadinho Mhango and Keagan Dolly. This meant that going into this match, the urgency to score a goal was on Amakhosi’s end, not Usuthu.

The 0-0 draw good enough to make it to the showpiece final.

“I think the game, we approached very well,” he told SuperSport TV.

“I don’t think anyone would’ve had anything to say if it’s 2-0 at half-time, with the chances that we’ve had.

“I’m very happy for the boys and I’m very happy for the fans as well. They believed in us and the one thing we didn’t want is to let them down.

“So, we gave them our very best, as I promised before the game – I promised the fans that we’ll go into the finals, we are so we are happy.

“I still think it’s a game we could’ve won. So, on the coaching side, yes, we’re we qualified, I’m very happy but it’s a game we should’ve put to bed at half-time.

“I also understand that our physical level very often drops in the middle of the second half. So, in that regard the [FIFA World Cup] break coming is going to be good for us because we will try to rebuild a little bit our physical engine in order to do both halves like we did the first one today.

“But honestly, I think we were the best team today, we deserve to be in the finals. We’re going to prepare the two league games we have this week as best as we can.

“I allow the boys to celebrate tonight, but only tonight.” The Frenchman added.
